Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, appreciated efforts to prevent corruption in Jakarta, including in the educational environment.

The school principals performance will continue to be monitored

He conveyed this at a Legal Counseling event to commemorate World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2023, which was held by the Jakarta Provincial Government in synergy with the Prosecutor's Office, the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office and the Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office, at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (12/13).

The event with the theme 'Forward Building a Country Without Corruption' was also attended by several students representing schools in Jakarta. When opening the event, the Acting Governor said that eradicating corruption requires commitment and integrity from the world of education as the foundation for building a clean and serving national character.

Jakarta Wins Best Award in Eradicating Corruption Crimes

"As the front guard in the world of education, school principals and teachers have a big responsibility to educate and improve the quality of Indonesia's human resources, especially Jakarta's young generation. In an effort to build an anti-corruption culture in the school environment, I invite all school principals to build good integrity, providing role models for students, the work environment and society," he expressed, in the Jakarta Government's press release.

He went on to say that the task of school principals and teachers is also to build transparency in increasing performance accountability, mapping areas of potential corruption, and developing strategies to eliminate acts of corruption, collusion, nepotism and abuse of authority in budget implementation, including the School Operational Assistance (BOS) budget and Operational Assistance for the Implementation of Early Childhood Education (BOP PAUD).

"The school principals performance will continue to be monitored. If there are violations related to integrity and commitment, serious consequences will be applied, including dismissal and handling by law enforcement officials. To the Inspectorate, BKD (Regional Personnel Agency), and Education Agency to be more firm in enforcing rules and laws in the school environment," he asserted.

He also appreciated the schools that were selected as the Best Boss Fund Managers and Anti-Corruption Ambassadors at the Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Public Vocational School levels in Jakarta.

"This award is to be a motivation and positive example for other schools in managing BOS funds, as well as getting used to anti-corruption from an early age. Thank you to the Prosecutor's Office, Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office, and Jakarta District Prosecutor's Office for synergizing with the Jakarta Government to create a clean, transparent and responsible government," he stated.
